Liverpool news: Mohamed Salah snubbed as Jurgen Klopp explains Harvey Elliott 'mistake'

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has been snubbed by teammate James Milner after the English midfielder named his best XI comprised of teammates past and present.

Some iconic names have appeared in Milner's dream XI following a stellar career which has taken in appearances for the likes of Manchester City, Leeds United and England – but there was no room in the side for Salah.

It comes as Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has explained Harvey Elliott 'mistake' following the Carabao Cup win against Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday.

Elliott is one of a number of young stars currently playing for the Anfield side, and the Reds line-up could be quite frightening come 2024.

What 2024 line-up could be

Jurgen Klopp is building a very exciting young side at Liverpool.

Some of the club's youthful stars were on display during Sunday's Carabao Cup final against Chelsea with the likes of Ibrahima Konate, Harvey Elliott and Diogo Jota all dispatching their spot-kicks perfectly during the shootout.

It's clear the club is building on the future with so many young stars coming through the ranks – and their potential line-up in 2024 is nothing short of frightening.

Salah's snub

James Milner has left Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah out of his line-up of the best players he's ever played alongside.

Milner's Premier League career got underway all the way back in 2002 when he broke through the Leeds United academy before he played for the likes of Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Liverpool.

He's had a very impressive career and played with some of the league's greatest ever players.

And, looking back on his career, the midfielder has named his dream XI of teammates past and present, but found no room in his line-up for Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah.

Elliott's 'mistake'

Jurgen Klopp has said young forward Harvey Elliott made a 'mistake' in picking up a flare following Liverpool's Carabao Cup win on Sunday.

The 18-year-old was seen holding a flare while celebrating his club's first domestic cup triumph in a decade, with the player subsequently being contacted by the FA over the incident.

But Reds boss Klopp has defended Elliott for the incident, as he explained that the youngster "got carried away".
