Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp answers transfer question after Moises Caicedo twist

Liverpool can stretch their winning Premier League run to seven matches when they travel to relegation-threatened Leicester on Monday evening.

The Reds moved to within a point of fourth-place Manchester United by beating Brentford 1-0 last week and increased the pressure on the Red Devils the Champions League race. Mohamed Salah's first-half strike proved to be the different between the sides at Anfield.

However, Erik ten Hag's United still have a game in hand on their rivals in the running for a top-four spot, with Newcastle also in the same situation. The Magpies sit three points ahead of Liverpool but, like United, have played one fewer game than Liverpool. But Jurgen Klopp's men will fancy their chances of winning their remaining matches, with Leicester, Aston Villa and Southampton to go.

Here is the latest news to come out of Anfield.

Klopp's transfer promise

Jurgen Klopp believes that Liverpool remain an attractive proposition for players despite the potential of the Reds missing out on the Champions League next season.

He said: "There’s only one thing we cannot guarantee this year and that is Champions League football, but all the rest is the same like it was before. It’s a fantastic club with a really, really good football team and an even better one probably, hopefully next year. So that’s it.

"That’s not so difficult. I have barely faced a situation that you are in a talk with a player and everything sounds great and he says, ‘OK, now see you if…’ That happens not really often.

"Still Liverpool and that means we are really attractive for a lot of players and should not forget that, and that’s why I’m not concerned about that fact. Of course, everything is more difficult without Champions League, that’s how it is, especially in the long term so we should not do these kinds of things more often. But apart from that, it’s absolutely OK the situation we are in from a talking point of view and from a convincing point of view.

Caicedo's agent releases statement

Liverpool target Moises Caicedo could be on the move this summer - and agent Manuel Sierra is expecting plenty of offers for the Brighton midfielder.

Caicedo, 21, was close to joining Arsenal in January before the Seagulls decided to keep the Ecuadorian for the second-half of the season. However, Brighton are expected to receive a number of offers for the player at the end of the campaign, with the Gunners and Liverpool amongst those linked.

Sierra has told arsenalinformer.co.uk: "Arsenal is a great team for everyone; let’s see what happens in the summer, there are many clubs keen on Moises. Moises has four years left on his contract. He’s having an incredible season, so it’s normal that there are many clubs interested in him.

"Now he’s completely focused on the last part of the season; all evaluations will be postponed until the summer. This is not a surprise because there aren’t many other midfielders so young and talented around Europe. I believe he can really improve in every aspect of the game.

"He can slot into any [team] as he is ready for it all. His dream is to play in the Champions League and to reach as far as he can in football."

Beck on Liverpool return

Owen Beck has admitted he has learned a lot from the 2022/23 campaign after enduring two completely different loan spells before returning to Liverpool in January.

Beck started the season at Portuguese outfit Famalicao, before later heading to League One with Bolton Wanderers. The 20-year-old was back at Liverpool mid-way through the season and played a key part for the Under 21s as the Reds secured second place in Premier League 2.

"I knew going out on loan was going to be tough, but I wanted to go for that experience and [to] go into a senior environment," Beck told Liverpoolfc.com. "I obviously thought that I was going to get more game time than I did, but it was just one of those things that I just had to take as much as I could from it and learn as much as I could.

"I feel like I’ve come back a lot more experienced and I see them as both good experiences; Portugal and Bolton. There’s no point dwelling on it if it doesn’t go the way you want it to go and thinking negatively about it.

"I feel you need to just think positive and learn as much as you can from it, which I feel I did, and take the positives from it."
