Liverpool news: Jude Bellingham transfer 'unlikely' as Arsenal eye Reds target

Liverpool continue to be linked heavily with Jude Bellingham ahead of an expected summer rebuild.

The Reds, who are currently battling for the top four and could yet miss out on the Champions League, need to refresh their options in the middle of the park following a difficult campaign. Many of their established stars are into their 30s and have struggled to consistently produce the intensity required.

Bellingham may well be their number one target, but the midfielder has attracted plenty of interest ahead of a possible transfer tug-of-war this summer.

Here is the latest from Anfield.

Bellingham deal 'increasingly unlikely'

Liverpool's hopes of signing Bellingham this summer and slipping away with the chances of finalising a deal are growing more unlikely according to the Athletic.

Borussia Dortmund are under no pressure to sell with the Englishman under contract until 2025 with no release clause inserted into his deal. It means it will take a hefty offer with a bidding war amongst Europe's elite likely to take place if Bellingham does move.

Real Madrid and Manchester City are both keen and would appear to have more financial power than Liverpool, despite the need for a midfield rebuild on Merseyside. It is claimed Los Blancos and Pep Guardiola's side are more likely to get any deal over the line.

That is despite Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold's best efforts. The defender has once again been spotted spending time with Bellingham amid fresh developments over the midfielder’s future.

Reds star Alexander-Arnold appears to be doing all he can to get the midfielder to Merseyside. The pair are understood to share a close friendship that was on display throughout the World Cup.

Gunners to rival Reds for right-back

Arsenal have identified Galatasaray starlet Sacha Boey as a key summer target as Mikel Arteta attempts to beat Liverpool to the defender’s signature, it has been claimed.

The Gunners are embroiled in a battle to lift the Premier League title this season after a busy January that saw them spend just under £50million as they welcomed three new faces to the Emirates. Planning for the next window is already underway and Arsenal are expected to compete with Liverpool for one of their next additions.

According to Turkish outlet Aksam, Galatasaray right-back Boey is at the top of the list. The north London side have Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu capable of playing in the position but it is thought that the young Frenchman, 22, could provide more competition.
