It's fair to say this season has not gone to plan for Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp's side are eighth in the Premier League, 10 points behind bitter rivals Manchester United in fourth with only 10 games remaining. The Community Shield winners also failed to go the distance in the Champions League, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.
Yet there is always a new campaign just around the corner. Liverpool fans and Klopp will be getting excited for the summer transfer window, when reinforcements can be signed to bring new hope. With that in mind, here are the latest headlines from Merseyside.
Alisson breaks silence
Alisson has opened up on his heated row with Jordan Henderson during Liverpool's goalless draw with Chelsea. The goalkeeper said, "Me and Henderson, we are two people who fight, who give our lives for their team.
"And on the field, there is no way to ask, 'Please?' So sometimes it seems that the mood is high, but it's two people trying to fix it, do things in the best way for the team and try to help. Of course, it's been difficult, it's been a great challenge [this season].

"We are human beings and we feel as much as anyone else. We get frustrated when something negative happens. We rejoice when we are well. But football, the difference is that we can't spend a long time lamenting because that's the good side of football.
"When things are going badly, two, three days after a match that the team doesn't play well, there's already an opportunity that can show again. So that's our challenge this season. Each game will show our real quality and play together as a team."

Klopp's rival returns
Frank Lampard has returned to Chelsea for a second spell as manager... and he may come up against Liverpool if his contract is extending beyond this season. Klopp will be watching the situation closely after having a famous spat with Lampard in July 2020.
The two managers clashed on the touchline during Liverpool's 5-3 win against Chelsea at Anfield. Lampard accused Klopp of being "arrogant" and complained about his rival's behaviour - claiming it "crossed a line".

Jones willing to fight
Curtis Jones has confirmed Liverpool players have not heard which players will be axed from Klopp's squad this summer. Despite this, the 22-year-old midfielder is confident of retaining his place and managing his injury woes. He's played just 13 games this season.
Jones, 22, told the Liverpool ECHO, "I couldn't care, no. You know I am a confident lad and I have the backing of the staff. If they turn around and say they think I need to leave or go out on loan then you know there are options there that I already know of anyway.
"So it's not something that we have spoken about at the club and it is not like they have said, 'Look, we're going to buy him, you might have to leave, you might have to do this or do that'. You might hear small things in the press, but they just make up things to keep themselves around! But I've not heard anything, so I am here to play.
"Of course I [back myself]. Of course. It doesn't matter if I leave. I think I can show I am good enough to come back but we'll see. I am not worried."
