A new report has named Liverpool as the best place to live in the North West, with two areas singled out as top districts in the city.
The annual Sunday Times Best Places to Live guide, which is sponsored by Halifax, hailed Liverpool's "booming" science and tech scene and the revitalisation of the north docks as factors that make the city stand apart from its neighbours.
Judges also praised Scousers' famous community spirit, the city's watersports, our emerging creative district and the quirky places to eat and drink that are of offer.

They said: "There are lots of reasons to be optimistic about Liverpool - not just Eurovision, but also the booming reputation for science and tech and grand projects such as the new Everton Stadium and new film studios.
"Good-value houses are the big attraction - this is one great city where you can buy a house without breaking the bank - but you also get a lively city centre and beautiful beaches close at hand."
Judges singled out two areas as their "top districts" - Toxteth and Waterloo, which is up the road from Liverpool in Sefton.
Toxteth has a vibrant community, great links to the city centre and lush parks.
Waterloo is renowned for its great selection of bars and restaurants and access to the stunning coast. Anthony Gormley's Another Place and Crosby Coastal Park are situated at the bottom of South Road.
Helen Davies, the editor of Best Places to Live 2023, said: "When times are tough, where we live matters more than ever.
"Attractive surroundings, good neighbours and a comfortable home are the best defences when the stresses of modern life seem overwhelming."
Six other locations in the North West feature in the guide, which will be published in full on Sunday, March 26, 2023. They are Manchester, Sale, Tarporley, Stockport, Penrith in Cumbria and Rawtenstall in Lancashire.
Wadhurst in East Sussex was named the overall winner of Best Places to Live.
