Liverpool 'monitoring' Moises Caicedo amid January transfer update

Liverpool are continuing to be linked with a move for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

The Reds were first credited with an interest in the 21-year-old in the summer, when talk of adding a new midfielder to the squad was at its peak. Since then, rumours linking Caicedo with a move to Anfield have not really gone away.

Caicedo is currently away with the Ecuador national team for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. However, his country lost to Senegal on Tuesday night, meaning they have exited the competition at the group stage.

Despite this, Caicedo still found himself on the score sheet as Ecuador lost 2-1 in Qatar. And his form in the World Cu;, as well as with Brighton, is likely to attract interest in his services.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are one of the clubs monitoring the midfielder ahead of a potential move. Manchester United are also credited with an interest in the player, who signed for Brighton from Independiente del Valle in 2021.

However, it has been reported that despite the apparent interest, Caicedo will be staying where he is in January and a move will not be happening.

“Caicedo is not expected to leave in January, the situation is still the same,” said Romano, via his Substack column.

“Liverpool, Man United but also other clubs are monitoring him; he’s been on Manchester United’s list for years but then nothing happened. I’m sure Brighton will try to keep him at least until June.”
