Former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has snubbed Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard when naming the “most talented player” he’s coached.
The Reds legend played for a number of managers during his playing career, for both club and country. For England, Gerrard earned 45 of his 114 caps under Eriksson’s stewardship.
The Swede spent five years as England manager from 2001-06, which included two World Cups and one European Championship. During his stint as Three Lions boss, there were frequent debates over whether Gerrard was the country's best midfielder compared to Frank Lampard and Paul Scholes.

However, Eriksson has claimed that it’s Scholes who is the most talented player that he coached while England manager, saying the former Manchester United player was better than the Liverpool legend.
“I think Paul Scholes was the most talented player I ever coached - he had everything,” Eriksson told Betway. “More than Lampard, Gerrard and [David] Beckham.
“You can pick so many immense players from my time. [Wayne] Rooney, Beckham, Rio [Ferdinand], [John] Terry, and [Michael] Owen when he was at his peak.
“But Scholes was a playmaker, finisher - he wasn’t the best in the world at defending, but he could do it. He was a brilliant football player.”
