Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has warned the 'clock is already ticking' on new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.
The Red Devils suffered a second consecutive league defeat on Saturday, this time a 4-0 thumping away at Brentford on Saturday. The loss came less than a week after they were beaten 2-1 at home to Brighton.
Understandably furious with his squad's performance, reports have emerged suggesting the new United boss issued a 'punishment' for the display and cancelled their day off on Sunday. Souness believes there is a lot of pressure on Ten Hag's shoulders at Old Trafford and thinks he could already be fighting for his job.

"I think this is a difficult time for Man United," he said on talkSPORT. "I'm not sure this group of players, with this manager, will be any different to where they were last year. I really don't, I think the players they've brought in are not game-changers for them.
"I think the clock is ticking on him (Ten Hag) already, that's the nature of being manager of Man United at this time. They expect big things from him, he's been successful at Ajax but in what is a much inferior league to the Premier League.
"The demands there are nothing like what he's got on his shoulders in the Premier League and in managing arguably the biggest club in the world."
Host Jim White then posed the question as to what happens if Liverpool 'do a serious number' on United and whether they could even go as far as showing Ten Hag the door. Souness simply responded: "Listen, don't be surprised at surprises in football."
Liverpool's aggregate score against United in their two meetings last season was 9-0, but Jurgen Klopp 's side will need to be in much better form if they're to replicate such results. After drawing 2-2 with Fulham in their opening game, the Reds now welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield in their first home fixture of the campaign.
