Liverpool injury update: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson and Diogo Jota latest news and return dates

Liverpool face two huge games this week as the fixtures start to pile up thick and fast.

Arne Slot’s side welcome Real Madrid and Manchester City to Anfield in the Champions League and Premier League respectively, looking to continue what has been an excellent start to the season.

Top of the pile in Europe and a stunning eight points clear of City ahead of their showdown on Sunday, things couldn’t be going much better for the Dutchman in the opening few months of his tenure.

Sunday’s dramatic 3-2 win over Southampton underlined their fighting spirit to go along with their obvious quality and that will no doubt be needed during another huge week.

Battling across a number of fronts, Slot will need his full squad available.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Liverpool injuries.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold was forced off during the win over Aston Villa before the international break with a hamstring injury and subsequently pulled out of the England squad.

He then sat out the win over Saints, though Slot did suggest there was hope the right-back could return soon.

"Trent isn't training with us yet, but he is getting there so we expect him to be back with us soon,” he said last week.

When asked if he could return for the double-header, Slot replied: “With Trent, it's going to be in between."

Potential return date: November/December 2024

Kostas Tsimikas

Greek international Kostas Tsimikas missed the win over Saints with what is reported to have been a knock sustained in training last week.

Potential return date: Unknown

Alisson Becker

Alisson is back in training with Liverpool after a recent hamstring injury but was not risked against Saints.

With deputy Caoimhin Kelleher in good form, it would seem unlikely the Brazilian will be rushed back into action.

Diogo Jota

Diogo Jota suffered a chest injury during the win over Chelsea last month and was initially expected back after the international break.

Still, speaking before Sunday’s win, Slot suggested the forward was still facing a spell on the sidelines.

Potential return date: December 2024

Federico Chiesa

Summer signing Federico Chiesa is yet to get going in a Liverpool shirt and is still training away from the first-team as the Italy star bids to build up his fitness.

Potential return date: Unknown
