Liverpool injury round-up and expected return dates including Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota

Liverpool will once again prepare to face Manchester City this weekend after Sunday’s 2-2 draw in the Premier League, with the pair set to face off at Wembley Stadium in an FA Cup semi-final.

The Reds will be buoyed after securing their progression to the final four of the UEFA Champions League in midweek, but following that 3-3 draw with Benfica on Wednesday, Jurgen Klopp is sweating over the fitness of two of his players.

Here is all you need to know about the current state of play at Anfield and the expected return dates for those currently on the sidelines.

Mohamed Salah

Reds forward Mohamed Salah featured as a 57th minute substitute against Benfica on Wednesday night but managed to pick up a knock during his time on the pitch in the 3-3 draw at Anfield.

After starting in the 2-2 draw with Man City at the weekend, Klopp started Salah on the bench in midweek in order to rest him ahead of another tie with Pep Guardiola’s side on Saturday, but the Egyptian couldn’t prevent himself from picking up an injury.

Could Liverpool beat Man City without Salah and Jota in their side? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

However, it is understood to be nothing serious and according to Klopp, Salah is in good condition and can therefore be expected to feature once again this weekend against the Premier League champions.

Speaking on Wednesday, Klopp said: "Mo's knock, I don't know really, nobody told me yet. I changed with two physios and nobody said to me Mo has a problem, so for the moment everybody should be fine."

Diogo Jota

Portuguese striker Diogo Jota had to be substituted early in the second half of Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg with Benfica after pulling up with 57 minutes gone of the tie.

Jota had started and scored in Liverpool ’s 2-2 draw with Man City on Sunday, and was once again chucked in from the start against the Portuguese side in the week, but there is now concern over his condition ahead of this weekend.

It is initially suspected that Jota’s injury isn’t too serious and that it won’t put him out of action for Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, but he is expected to face a late fitness test to determine his involvement.

Speaking on Thursday, Klopp said: "Diogo pulled up slightly directly after the game. There's a good chance he will be all right but we need to have a look tomorrow. That's it."
