Liverpool hold 'recruitment meeting' as new claims emerge on Mac Allister and Mount

Liverpool reportedly held a high-level 'recruitment meeting' recently - as speculation suggests the club are targeting a move for Brighton and Hove Albion star Alexis Mac Allister.

The Reds are drawing up plans for the upcoming transfer window after pulling out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham this summer, but a rebuild under Jurgen Klopp is still in the pipeline.

Argentine World Cup winner Mac Allister is thought to be on the list of targets for Klopp alongside Chelsea star Mason Mount and Bayern Munich's Ryan Gravenberch.

The Daily Mail claimed today that Liverpool are set to hold talks with Mac Allister 'soon' after also 'sounding out' the representatives of the Netherlands international Gravenberch.

Their article said: "Liverpool held a recruitment meeting last week in their Fitzrovia offices in London as they collate information on transfer targets.

"Alexis Mac Allister is another on Liverpool's list with talks expected soon. As one agent said: 'BRIGHTON want bingo numbers for Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo this summer and we are not talking 'two little ducks'."

It was also suggested by the Mail that Bayern are "reluctant to lose Gravenberch and rejected approaches from other clubs in January but the 20-year-old Dutch midfielder is unhappy over his playing time."

The same piece states there is "little evidence" Chelsea want to keep Conor Gallagher - who has also been linked with a move to Anfield. It is claimed that a £45m bid for Gallagher, from Everton, was accepted back in January but a move did not materialise.

It has also been reported in the Guardian that Liverpool are set to step up their attempts to sign Mount from Chelsea in the summer with the England international showing no signs of extending his contract at Stamford Bridge.
