Liverpool have vital weapon to prevent Tottenham-style spiral as potential Champions League opponents confirmed

Here is your Liverpool morning digest for Thursday, November 3.

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have vital weapon to prevent Tottenham-style spiral

Liverpool and Tottenham have been entwined ever since Jurgen Klopp moved to England. His first game was against them, he lifted club football’s biggest prize by beating them, and there have been countless memorable clashes over the last seven years.

Having lost just one of Klopp’s 16 meetings with Spurs, perhaps the Reds can get a positive result when they travel to north London on Sunday. But whatever happens there, it’s fair to wonder if the last few campaigns Spurs have endured are likely to be repeated by Liverpool in the near future.

When is the Champions League last-16 draw and who could Liverpool face?

Liverpool's potential opponents for the Champions League first knockout round have been confirmed after the competition's group stage phase was concluded on Wednesday evening.

Jurgen Klopp's side booked their place in the last-16 of the tournament after beating Ajax in Amsterdam 3-0 last week. However, they were unable to wrestle top spot off Serie A leaders Napoli, despite inflicting a 2-0 defeat on Luciano Spalletti's side on Tuesday evening thanks to a flurry of late goals from Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez.

Starting their Group A campaign off with a 4-1 mauling of the Reds in Naples back in September was enough to give the Partenopei a healthy head-to-head advantage over Liverpool and ensure they advanced into next week's draw as a seeded side.

Find out who the Reds could draw in the last-16 HERE.
