Liverpool handed Jude Bellingham blow after Borussia Dortmund transfer decision

Rumoured Liverpool target Jude Bellingham has 'assured Borussia Dortmund' that he wants to remain at the club next season, according to reports in Germany.

The Reds have been among the clubs linked with a move for the midfielder following his rapid rise in the Bundesliga.

Bellingham, 18, made the move to Germany from Birmingham City in July 2020 and he has already made 80 appearances for Dortmund.

His performances have caught the attention of clubs across Europe and both Liverpool and Manchester United are among the clubs rumoured to be interested in the player.

However, if recent reports are to be believed, Bellingham won't be on the move this summer as he wants to remain at the Westfalenstadion.

Outlet BILD claims the youngster has offered his assurances to the club that he wants to stay beyond the upcoming transfer window, despite interest from elsewhere.

The report suggests he is happy in the Bundesliga and wants to continue his development under Marco Rose.

Bellingham certainly wouldn't be cheap as his current contract expires in 2025 and rumours last year suggested he's valued at close to £90m.

Liverpool's links to the midfielder emerged following the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum, who left on a free transfer last summer to join Paris Saint-Germain.

The club opted against replacing the Dutchman, but midfield is an area Jurgen Klopp may look at for reinforcements at the end of the season.

They may be forced to look elsewhere, though, with reports in January claiming Monaco's Aurelien Tchouameni is among the player's being considered by the club.

The Echo reported last September that, while Liverpool have long been admirers of Bellingham, any talk of a move is premature.

Dortmund's sporting director Sebastian Kehl also addressed the player's future back in October, as he told Sport1 : "He is a Borussia Dortmund player and remains a Borussia Dortmund player. There's a lot of interest around Jude Bellingham, not only Liverpool.

"But there is no bottom line and no exit clause. He is loved, he enjoys that. There are no signs he could leave Dortmund soon."
