Chelsea remain locked in contract talks with Mason Mount as Liverpool have made the England international their priority transfer target this summer, football.london understands. The 24-year-old has just over 12 months remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge and the two parties are no closer to reaching an agreement over an extension.
Mount has struggled with injuries and not enjoyed his best form for the Blues in a difficult season but his entourage still believe his wage package should be closer to some of the top earners at the club. Chelsea are looking to tie him down to a seven-year contract whilst the player's camp want a shorter deal so there is more room to negotiate in the future.
Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer of the England international and believes this summer presents an opportunity to possibly sign him. Reports have suggested that Chelsea would want a fee in the region of £80million to let Mount move to Anfield with the market for midfielders becoming inflated following Enzo Fernandez's £106million move to Stamford Bridge in January.
