Liverpool hand Tottenham Hotspur astonishing lesson as six players find target

Liverpool recorded their biggest Premier League 2 victory in almost three years by destroying Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds under-23s racked up six different goalscorers as they romped to a 7-1 win over the Londoners at the Academy in Kirkby on Saturday.

It continues the improved form of Barry Lewtas's side, who have lost only one of their last seven league games and won 4-1 at Arsenal in their previous league fixture.

Liverpool made a blistering start and were three up before half an hour had been played.

On 18 minutes, Max Woltman set up Conor Bradley to open the scoring, with Woltman netting seven minutes later and, soon after, James Norris striking home an angled drive.

Leighton Clarkson then notched two penalties before the break, the first after Jack Bearne had been fouled and the second for a handball.

J'Neil Bennett pulled one back for Tottenham nine minutes into the second half but Bearne restored the five-goal advantage shortly afterwards following a good pass from Tom Clayton before substitute Fidel O'Rourke completed the rout.

Liverpool are next in Premier League 2 action on Sunday week when they travel to Manchester City (kick-off 3pm).

LIVERPOOL U23s: Pitaluga; Bradley (Quansah 74), Williams, Koumetio, Norris; Clarkson, Morton, Bearne; Woltman (O’Rourke 79), Clayton, Musialowski (Corness 81). Subs: Kelly, Wilson.
