Liverpool have unveiled the new home kit for the upcoming 2023/24 season.
The Nike shirt is based on a design that is 50 years old as the club celebrates half a century since legendary boss Bill Shankly completed his final season with the club. The shirt, in traditional Liverpool red, has a white round neck collar and white cuffs with all the logos and badges also in white.
The Hillsborough flame logo will appear on the neck of the shirt and will feature the number 97 for the second season, following the death of Andrew Stanley Devine in July 2021. The main shirt sponsor, Standard Chartered, remains the same for next season.
Men’s club captain Jordan Henderson said: “The new home shirt is a classic. Given the inspiration behind the design it feels iconic and a nod to the history of this great club. We’re looking forward to wearing it at Anfield for the Villa game.”
Women’s vice-captain Taylor Hinds added: “We’re always proud to wear the LFC jersey. It’s always exciting to see the new design and when it has a link to the history of this club it makes it even more special. We’re excited to wear next season.”
While the kit looks back at a similar shirt worn in the early 1970s the white collar design is reminiscent of shirts worn by Liverpool in the late 1990s when Reebok manufactured the kits. The 1998 shirt featured a similar round neck collar design, itself a nod to kits worn by the Reds in the glory days of the 1960s and 1970s.
Liverpool announced earlier this week the shirt prices would be increasingly slightly for adults in 2023/24 but junior prices would remain the same.
The shirts are available to pre order here and will appear in stores, including the Liverpool FC store in Dublin, from 18 May.
