Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has admitted that he has no interest in following in Cristiano Ronaldo's footsteps and living a similar lifestyle to the Manchester United star.
Just like Ronaldo, Mane has scored 12 Premier League goals this season. The Senegal international has blossomed into one of the finest players in the world in recent years, playing a key role in the success Liverpool have enjoyed under manager Jurgen Klopp. Renowned for his blistering pace and eye for goal, the 29-year-old has been outstanding and a joy to watch, both for Liverpool and his country.
He played a key part in helping Liverpool claim the Champions League crown in 2019 and their first Premier League title just over 12 months later. Since joining the club from Southampton in 2016, he has scored 111 goals and claimed 45 assists in 253 appearances.
The winger remains one of the most humble and respected players in the Premier League, and he has admitted he has no interest in changing his personality or way of living.
"I don't want to give the impression of being a lecturer," Mane told L'Equipe (via the Mirror ), "but it is true that there are certain values circulating in football that bother me a bit based on my education.
"But, instead of criticising out loud, sometimes I prefer to distance myself a bit. The main thing is not to change, and I don't think it has changed.
"And, for a boy who comes from a small town in Casamance, it is already a great victory to resist all that."
Asked if he would like to live the same lifestyle as either Ronaldo or Neymar, the Senegal star added: "No. I follow them on social media and that's enough for me. I love their extraordinary life, but that life is not made for me."
