Liverpool fans looking for Champions League tickets slate eye-watering price of VIP pass

Official hospitality tickets for Liverpool’s Champions League final are on sale for an eye-watering price.

The final will take place at Stade de France in Paris on the May, 28. Out of the stadium’s 75,000 capacity just 25,000 seats are up for grabs for Reds fans.

But many have lashed out at the cost of a ticket on social media this morning. The cheapest seats start from €70 (£58) but a “premium dining experience” costs up to €5,000 (£4,206) per person.

This extortionate package includes a box behind the goal, a seat in front of your suite, a private bar, a commemorative gift and free Wifi. Each suite fits either 12 or 24 people.

Liverpool fan Chris Hewitt posted on Twitter: “Anybody fancy lending me five grand so I can go see a football match? I’m good for it. Eventually. Pound a year for the next 5,000 years.”

A verified user replied: “Free Wifi?? They are charging FIVE GRAND and boasting that you can access a service available in every McDonalds? Ye gods.”

Another account tweeted: “A lot of stadiums have notoriously bad reception/poor public Wifi just due to the sheer number of people using it. Exec boxes have their own private Wifi connections. I'm more interested in what the service at half time is?!?!"

For €5,000 football fans could buy six Liverpool season tickets and still have spare change left over. Alternatively hospitality packages at Anfield for Liverpool’s next game against Tottenham are on sale for £427 – a tenth of the sum. The package doesn't mention free Wifi but it includes hot and cold food, executive seats and a cash bar.

Liverpool’s trip to Paris at the end of May will be the club’s third Champions League final in five years. In their last final three years ago the Reds beat Spurs 2-0 with Mohamed Salah and Origi getting the goals.
