The former Liverpool striker faced an old foe in Ghana as Uruguay looked to pick up their first win of the tournament and qualify from Group H. Suarez is far from a hero in the African country, with not-so-fond memories of his infamous handball in the 2010 World Cup quarter-finals still a source of fury among fans and players.
It took less than 20 minutes for the predicted drama to ensure, with Ghana awarded a penalty after Mohammed Kudus was brought down. Current Reds forward Darwin Nunez was booked for stamping on the spot before Andre Ayew's weak penalty was saved. Uruguay then went up the other end and scored two goal in six minutes - both scored by Giorgian de Arrascaeta and both set up by Suarez.
