Liverpool face 'fierce' battle to sign Fabio Carvalho as talks for Serie A duo set

Liverpool were left with somewhat unfinished business after the January transfer window closed on Monday.

The Reds did not manage to get a late deal for Fulham’s Fabio Carvalho over the line, despite Neco Williams moving in the opposite direction, on loan.

While the transfer market is closed for now, reports looking at the repercussions of deadline day, as well as Liverpool's plans for the summer, continue to emerge.

Here’s a round-up of all the latest Reds transfer rumours and gossip.

Liverpool can reportedly expect 'fierce competition' when they look to complete a deal for the 19-year-old this summer.

Goal reports the Reds had agreed an £8m fee, with a medical organised and a five-year contract ready to be signed.

However, due to Fulham 'insisting' the attacking midfielder was loaned back for the rest of the season, Liverpool were unable to complete all the required paperwork.

With Carvalho set to become a free agent in the summer, the report claims Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea are all 'interested' in rivalling Liverpool for Carvalho's signature.

What?

It has been claimed that Leeds United can expect a 'battle' to keep Kalvin Phillips in the summer transfer window.

The England international has allegedly attracted interest from Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid following his performances for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, via The Hard Tackle, who say that the 26-year-old would give Man United a viable option in holding midfield, as well as provide Madrid with back-up for Casemiro.

Liverpool’s supposed interest is described as 'surprising' given Fabinho’s impressive displays but Leeds are said to have an 'uphill task' to keep hold of Phillips, with PSG and Bayern Munich also mentioned as possible suitors.

What?

Liverpool are reportedly 'actively moving' to organise a future deal for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala.

The Argentine is set to become a free agent in the summer at the end of his contract with Juventus and the Reds have been touted with an interest in the 28-year-old.

Italian outlet Tutto Mercato states that Liverpool are already 'actively moving' to make deals as early as this month.

The report claims that Reds officials will arrive in Italy during February to 'make contacts' with Dybala as well as Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar.
