A series of events honouring George Harrison's spiritual life are taking place in Liverpool today in celebration of what would have been his 80th birthday.
The Beatles' icon would have turned 80 today, February 25. In celebration, members of the Hare Krishna movement will be hosting a number of special events to celebrate the 'Spiritual Beatle'.
The celebrations will include hundreds of Hare Krishnas gathering this afternoon in the city centre, between Lord St, Paradise St and Whitechapel for chanting and the sharing of cookies and books. Explaining the inspiration behind the celebrations, Hare Krishna representative, Pradyumna Pradip Gajjar said: "February 2023 marks the 80th birthday of the Spiritual Beatle, George Harrison.

"For certain, the city will have many tributes and celebrations for George to mark this occasion. But in addition to this, I'm offering Liverpool a celebration specific to the spiritual life of the Spiritual Beatle."
List of events to celebrate George Harrison's 80th birthday
- A Pilgrimage for George, The Beatles Story, 10am to 3pm. This event will feature Indian music workshops, stories and insights into George Harrison's spiritual life and George's music.
- If Not For You, The Liverpool Beatles Museum, 3pm. Interview with Gurudasa, one of the first Hare Krishna monks to meet George Harrison.
Liverpool city centre - 1pm to 4pm. Hundreds of Hare Krishna devotees from around the country will be in Liverpool chanting in the city centre, sharing cookies and books.
