Liverpool Council is “ahead of where we expected to be” on green bin sign-ups.
Ahead of the first paid collection of garden waste under the controversial new scheme, the local authority has claimed projections for residents opting into the service are positive. This is despite being unable to provide figures for the number of households choosing to pay the £40 annual charge.
From Monday, thousands of homes will have their green bin picked up after paying for the non-statutory service. After a mix-up with its website over the final date for collections without a levy, the council was forced to offer a final round of free collections.
