Liverpool could be set for a transfer windfall this summer thanks to Man City legend Vincent Kompany.
The Burnley manager is looking to sign a new goalkeeper this summer after leading the Clarets to promotion back to the Premier League. And such a pursuit could see him switch attentions to a familiar Reds face.
Kompany had reportedly been interested in signing Bart Verbruggen from his former club, Anderlecht. However, the Athletic report the Dutchman is set for a £17m switch to Brighton & Hove Albion.
As a result, Burnley could switch their attentions to former Liverpool goalkeeper Kamil Grabara.

The Poland international left the Reds to join FC Copenhagen in a £3m deal in the summer of 2021, with the deal including a 20% sell-on clause. Signing a five-year contract, the 24-year-old has been first-choice for the majority of his time in Denmark, seeing off competition from former Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan in the process.
Also a member of the Poland squad for last winter’s World Cup in Qatar, Kompany was seen personally scouting Grabara, along with Burnley goalkeeping coach Jelle ten Rouwelaar, as he attended Copenhagen’s clash with FC Nordsjaelland back in April. During the same scouting trip, he also watched Brondby’s clash with Viborg, with Mads Hermansen believed to be the subject of his attentions.
For the record, Brondby would fall to a 3-0 defeat, while Copenhagen ran out 2-1 winners.
Should Kompany step up interest in Grabara after missing out on Verbruggen, Liverpool will be set for a windfall thanks to that 20% sell-on clause. As a first-choice goalkeeper in Denmark who has regularly played in Europe, even keeping a clean sheet against Man City in the Champions League last season, and went to last year’s World Cup, Copenhagen can expect a comfortable profit on their initial £3m investment, with the Reds entitled to a percentage of that profit.
As a result, as Burnley and Kompany’s summer search for a new goalkeeper continues, Liverpool bosses will be watching on with interest to see if ends up handing Grabara the opportunity to return to the Premier League.
