Liverpool have confirmed Conor Bradley suffered a serious knee injury against Arsenal.

Bradley has avoided an ACL injury but the defender will need surgery to repair damage to ligaments and bone in his left knee and will miss the rest of the season.

The right-back was forced off in Thursday's 0-0 Premier League draw at Arsenal after landing awkwardly near the touchline when chasing the ball in injury time.

Bradley’s injury is a major blow for Liverpool and also means he will miss Northern Ireland’s World Cup play-off.

A Liverpool statement read: “Liverpool FC can confirm Conor Bradley has sustained a significant knee injury.

“The right-back suffered the issue in the latter stages of Thursday night's Premier League fixture away at Arsenal.

“Bradley will undergo surgery in the coming days and then begin a period of rehabilitation at the AXA Training Centre.

“No timeframe is being placed on his return to playing at this stage of the process.”

Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli apologised for trying to push Bradley off the pitch when he was down injured.

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville was highly critical of Martinelli, saying his actions were "absolutely disgraceful" and describing him as an "idiot".

“I really didn't understand he was seriously injured in the heat of the moment," Martinelli posted on Instagram.

“I want to say I'm deeply sorry for reacting. Sending Conor all my best again for a quick recovery.”
