Liverpool Comic Con has announced a number of cancellations ahead of the event this weekend.
Sci-fi fans, comic book lovers and cosplay enthusiasts are expected to meet many of their favourite celebrities at the event. Liverpool Comic Con returns to the Exhibition Centre Liverpool on May 21 and 22.
Ahead of the weekend, a number of cancellations have been announced, including major stars from The Vampire Diaries, Smallville and Grease. Guests have pulled out of the event for a number of reasons, such as being ill or unable to get their passport renewed in time.

Among those now unable to appear at Liverpool Comic Con are: Erica Durance, Didi Conn, Ted Dibiase, Riley Voelkel, Matt Davis, Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum. The Comic Con team shared the news on social media.
Taking to its official Facebook page, Liverpool Comic Con said: “GUEST UPDATE. Unfortunately we have to announce a few cancellations. As it's close to the event we'll give the reasons in each case as well. Erica Durance was cast in a movie which is shooting right now. She very kindly sent us this video.
Didi Conn is unwell and has been advised not to fly. Ted Dibiase has been unable to renew his passport in time for the show. Obviously neither of us were aware it had expired when he was booked for this show or FTLOW last month.
“Finally the schedules just haven't worked out for us to fly Riley Voelkel in for just one day. We will look to reschedule all of them for a future show.
“The other 58 guests attending the show are all scheduled to arrive from tomorrow onwards. It's never good news when people cancel and we ask for videos where possible to explain the reasons. All refunds will be done automatically and have already started.”
In a follow up post announcing further cancellations, the team added: “EVENT UPDATE. Unfortunately we have to announce three more cancellations which occurred in the last 24hrs.
Tom Welling, Michael Rosenbaum and Matt Davis will be unable to attend the event. All solo photos and autos will be refunded automatically. We are also refunding the Tom & Michael double photo, the Smallville Group photo and the Legacies Double photo.
“The Legacies Trio will now be a double photo with Danielle and Jenny. Tom has just sent us this video, and we have another landing shortly from Matt.
“We're as disappointed as everyone that this has happened, especially so close to the show, but we still have 55 guests either in Liverpool or landing today and tomorrow - so we hope everyone can stay positive and look forward to a great event.”
Guests still set to appear at Liverpool Comic Con this weekend include Robocop himself, Peter Weller, and Guardians of the Galaxy star Michael Rooker, who plays Yondu. Vampire Diaries star Candice King and Glee stars Matthew Morrison and Heather Morris will also appear.
