Liverpool and Everton join Leeds United in race to sign 'next Jude Bellingham'

Liverpool and Everton have joined the list of clubs monitoring Birmingham City star George Hall.

According to The Daily Mail, the Merseyside pair join Leeds United in keeping tabs on the 18-year-old. For Leeds it will be case of renewing their interest after being kept at bay by Birmingham's valuation over the summer.

Hall missed Friday evening's 3-2 win over Reading through injury but has been a vital part of George Eustace's Blues, registering one goal and one assist in 18 Championship games as his side - tipped for relegation in August - sit eighth and compete for a play-off place.

Liverpool's summer priority comes in the form of another Birmingham City academy graduate, Jude Bellingham, but Jurgen Klopp is always on the lookout for prospective young talents who can learn his style while they develop. The Reds signed a 16-year-old Stefan Bajcetic in 2020, with the Spaniard now staking his claim for first-team minutes after two impressive displays standing in for Fabinho during the Dubai Super Cup. Ben Doak was also signed from Celtic back in March, with the Scottish star quickly becoming one of the most exciting prospects at the club.

Everton are in the market for dynamic and athletic midfielders like Hall, and Frank Lampard could be limited to unearthing potential stars and developing them himself, thanks to the financial constraints that restricted summer spending. The Toffees boss is thought to be pushing any available funds further up the pitch, with the termination of Salomon Rondon's contract and Everton's poor scoring form - they are the joint second-lowest scorers in the league - making goals a priority.

With Hall contracted until 2024, Birmingham City have no obligation to secure a deal in January. And speaking this week, their manager Eustace remained stubborn in his hope that the teenager will stay at St. Andrew's.

"George is a fantastic young player who's a big player for us and for the team," Eustace said. "I think and we'll be looking forward to him coming back. He's a top young player. But all I want to do is to keep on developing George in the right way, which I think we have done so far.

"For me, George Hall is one of the top young players in the league. He's a very effective player whether he starts or we have him coming off the bench. He's only just turned 18 - and he's got an opportunity to showcase himself here. We don't want George Hall going anywhere."
