Liverpool 2-2 Fulham Highlights: Substitute Jota Rescues Point

Diogo Jota’s late equaliser ensured Liverpool escaped with a point against Fulham at Anfield, marking their second draw in a row.

Former Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira struck again at the home of one of his old club’s rivals, opening the scoring in Merseyside after doing the same at the Etihad in October.

Andy Robertson was shown a straight red inside the opening 20 minutes, denying Harry Wilson a goalscoring opportunity and leaving the hosts with quite the mountain to climb.

Cody Gakpo bagged a fifth goal in his last six for Liverpool to level the scores after the interval with an assist from Mohamed Salah, marking the Egyptian’s 29th goal involvement so far this season.

Salah has now provided 100 assists for Liverpool in all competitions, 13 of which have come this season – the most by any player in the country so far.

Rodrigo Muniz put the Cottagers back in front with 15 minutes to play before Jota pounced on his return to action after almost two months on the sidelines to rescue a point.

Since the start of last season, Manchester City (38) are the only team to win more points from losing positions than Liverpool (37) in the Premier League.

The Reds have lost just five of their last 28 matches when they’ve trailed (ten wins, 13 draws).

Liverpool maintain comfortable lead at top of Premier League table

2-2 wasn’t a disastrous result for the Reds by any means, but considering Arsenal also dropped points to Everton this afternoon – they should’ve taken the three points.

Arne Slot’s men, who shared the points for the second game running following a 3-3 tie with Newcastle earlier this month, are still enjoying a healthy cushion at the top of the table.

After 15 games, Liverpool lead Chelsea in second by five points – but that lead could shrink to just two if the Blues beat Brentford at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.

As per the best football betting sites, Liverpool are the odds-on favourites to win what would be a record-equalling 20th league title this season.
