Israeli defence chief heads to US to discuss Gaza, Lebanon hostilities

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant headed to Washington DC on Sunday for “critical” talks on the next phase of the Gaza war and the escalating hostilities against Hezbollah on the Lebanon border. His visit came as Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday again claimed there was a “dramatic drop” in US arms deliveries for the war effort.   • An Israeli national was found shot dead in a Palestinian town in the northern West Bank Saturday morning, Israel's army said, as violence surges in the occupied territory.
  • A commercial ship traveling through the Gulf of Aden saw explosions near the vessel, authorities said Saturday, likely the latest attack by Yemen's Houthi rebels attempting to target the shipping lane. 
  • Israeli forces shelled tent camps for displaced Palestinians outside Gaza's southern city of Rafah late Friday, killing at least 25 people and wounding another 50.
