The A1 has been closed in both directions following a crash involving two cars. The collision was reported from Valley Lane (Long Bennington / the Cotham Turn Off, Long Bennington) to Lavender Way (the Coddington Turn Off, New Balderton).
Highways bosses had said it was just the northbound carriageway which had been closed. But officials have since said the southbound carriageway has been shut, too.
"The A1 is now closed in both directions between the B6326 and the A46 near Newark due to a collision. There are currently 20 minutes delays northbound and approximately two miles of congestion," National Highways: East Midlands said.
