New year, new rosters (and a couple fresh team names).
This week the LIV Golf League will begin its 14-event schedule for 2023 at Mayakoba’s El Camaleón Golf Course on Mexico’s Riviera Maya, Feb. 24-26. The upstart circuit led by Greg Norman and backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund was initially slated to announced the rosters for all 12 teams over a three-day period last week as it attempted to build hype for its second season of competition. The release was delayed until Monday after reports broke over the weekend that Thomas Pieters and Brendan Steele would be joining the league.
Check out the rosters for all 12 teams, three of which remain unchanged from the 2022 team championship.

* — New team member in 2023
4 Aces GC
- Captain: Dustin Johnson
- Patrick Reed
- Pat Perez
- Peter Uihlein*
Just days after winning the team championship it was reported the 4 Aces brought in Uihlein, who finished third on the individual money list in LIV’s inaugural season, to replace Talor Gooch. Johnson won the Boston event and individual season-long title.
Cleeks GC
- Captain: Martin Kaymer
- Graeme McDowell
- Richard Bland
- Bernd Weisberger*
Only one change for Kaymer’s team in 2023. Formerly on Phil Mickelson’s Hy Flyers GC, Weisberger replaces Laurie Canter on the Cleeks, who lost in the semifinals (second round) in 2022.
Crushers GC
- Captain: Bryson DeChambeau
- Paul Casey
- Charles Howell III
- Anirban Lahiri
The Crushers return all four players from the 2022 team championship who, like the Cleeks, lost in the second round.
Fireballs GC
- Captain: Sergio Garcia
- Abraham Ancer
- Carlos Ortiz
- Eugenio Chacarra
Just like the Crushers, the Fireballs return all four players and also missed out on last year’s final round after bowing out in the second. Chacarra picked up his first professional win in Bangkok.
Hy Flyers GC
- Captain: Phil Mickelson
- Cameron Tringale
- James Piot*
- Brendan Steele*
James Piot joins Lefty’s squad after playing for Niblicks (now RangeGoats) GC last year. The weekend reports of Brendan Steele joining LIV were also confirmed.
Iron Heads GC
- Captain: Kevin Na
- Sihwan Kim
- Danny Lee*
- Scott Vincent*
Sihwan Kim returns for captain Kevin Na, who adds Scott Vincent from Torque GC and Danny Lee, who joins from the PGA Tour after missing the cut last week at the Genesis Invitational.
Majesticks GC
- Co-captain: Henrik Stenson
- Co-captain: Ian Poulter
- Co-captain: Lee Westwood
- Sam Horsfield
If you have three captains, do you even have one? All four players return from a 2022 squad that bowed out in the second round. Stenson won his LIV debut at Trump National Bedminster after being ousted as the European Ryder Cup captain for his move.
RangeGoats GC
- Captain: Bubba Watson
- Harold Varner III
- Talor Gooch*
- Thomas Pieters*
After a sad tweet about not being in a PGA Tour event, the DP World Tour’s Thomas Pieters joins the RangeGoats (formerly Niblicks) GC, where Bubba Watson officially takes over as captain. Talor Gooch joins after helping the 4 Aces win the team title last year and Harold Varner III returns.
Smash GC
- Captain: Brooks Koepka
- Matthew Wolff*
- Jason Kokrak
- Chase Koepka
Wolff is the big move of the offseason and lands on Koepka’s Smash GC, where he replaces Uihlein, who joined the defending champion 4 Aces. Brooks struggled early during his time with LIV but did defeat his former teammate Uihlein in a playoff to win in Jeddah.
Ripper GC
- Captain: Cam Smith
- Marc Leishman
- Matt Jones
- Jediah Morgan*
Formerly an all-Australian team, Morgan replaced Wade Ormsby after previously playing for three teams last year. Smith won in Chicago shortly after joining.
Stinger GC
- Captain: Louis Oosthuizen
- Charl Schwartzel
- Branden Grace
- Dean Burmester*
The core group of Oosthuizen, Schwartzel and Grace played together for the majority of last year where they finished fourth. Schwartzel won the inaugural event in London and Grace followed suit at the next event in Portland, the first in the U.S. Burmester joined after earning a PGA Tour card for this season via the Korn Ferry Tour last year.
Torque GC
- Captain: Joaquin Niemann
- Mito Pereira*
- Sebastian Munoz*
- David Puig*
There are three new players on Niemann’s Torque GC, including good friends Pereira and Munoz, who will make their LIV debuts in Mexico. Puig played three events in 2022 for three different teams.
