LIV Golf is putting its events back on YouTube — but you’re going to have to pay for it

LIV Golf’s first season was exclusively available on YouTube. Streaming the events was free and there were no commercials.

Then, in January, LIV and The CW network reached a multi-year broadcast deal.

This is a momentous day for LIV Golf as this partnership is about more than just media rights. The CW will provide accessibility for our fans and maximum exposure for our athletes and partners as their reach includes more than 120 million households across the United States,” said Greg Norman, CEO of LIV Golf, in a release at the time.

However, after the first six events of the league’s second season recorded subpar ratings, LIV has decided to put its broadcasts back on YouTube.

But it comes with a price.

Fans will have to pay $2.99 for each day of the coverage, however, “viewers in certain regions will have the ability to watch live coverage on the LIV Golf YouTube channel for free, depending on the third-party partnership in each global territory,” according to LIVGolf.com.

“Expanding the availability of LIV Golf’s live coverage on YouTube marks another milestone in the innovative ways in which we are making our groundbreaking competition available to viewers,” said Will Staeger, LIV Golf’s chief media officer. “LIV Golf is a global league comprised of some of the game’s biggest stars, and this supports our goal of bringing the sport we love to more people in more places around the world.”

Tournaments will continue to be broadcasted on The CW and The CW app, where users can watch for free. The events are also on LIV’s website for free.

LIV Golf is in Washington D.C. this week, its seventh event of the 2023 season.
