Little Mix release greatest hits album Between Us in first record as a trio – and fans are loving it

Little Mix have released their greatest hits album to celebrate their 10-year anniversary in their first record as a trio since Jesy Nelson departed the band last year.

The 26-track album Between Us includes the band’s well-known hits from over the past six albums, such as Wings, Black Magic, Shout Out to My Ex, Touch, Power, Woman Like Me and Sweet Melody.

But fans have also been treated to five brand-new songs on the record – No, Love (Sweet Love), Cut You Off, Trash and title track Between Us.

It’s been quite the journey for Little Mix since the band formed back on X Factor and became the first group to win the music competition in 2011, with five UK number 1 singles, a UK number 1 album and six albums in the UK Top 10 over the past decade, according to Official Charts.

Earlier this year, Little Mix also made history and became the first British girl group to win Best British Group at the BRIT Awards.

Since the album dropped on streaming platforms from midnight, fans have been sharing their love for the band.

Everyone was excited to hear the new tracks. While Love (Sweet Love) and Between Us were released before the album dropped, fans were giving their opinions on No, Cut You Off, and Trash.

(Of course, they love them all).

Between Us also marks the first album release for the band as a trio (Leigh Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards) after Nelson quit the group.

Although the departure appeared to initially be amicable, the relationship between the trio and their former bandmate appears to have soured.

Last month, Nicki Minaj, who collaborated with Nelson on her first solo single Bad Boys, appeared to publicly criticise Pinnock over messages– not verified by indy100 – which apparently described Nelson a “horrible person.”

The messages also apparently referred to allegations of Blackfishing against Nelson – something that has been frequently levelled against the pop star.

Appearing on the Graham Norton Show, Nelson later explained her relationship with her former bandmates said: “We’re not talking any more. It is sad but honestly there is no bad blood from my side, and I still love them to pieces and genuinely wish them all the best.”

Meanwhile, Thirlwall told The Telegraph’s Stella Magazine: “We don’t really want to dwell, because we have so much to celebrate as a three. We’ve dealt with it in the best way that we know how, and got each other through it.”

The band also said they approached Nelson over apparent blackfishing while she was still in the band “in a very friendly, educational manner.”

Fans have been expressing how proud they are of the girls and how great they sound as a trio since the album dropped.

As well as dropping their new album today, Little Mix also released a music video for their song No where, at the beginning of the video, they can be seen playing mothers as they push three grown-up men in a pram.

The trio can also be seen referring to their “MAN-nual” where they look up instructions on how to control the robot-like men.

Fans were here for the video.

Ahead of the album release, Thirlwall reflected on the band’s potential legacy.

“I want to be like the band that in 40 years’ time, we’re still talked about as the blueprint of how to be a girl band,” she told Buzzfeed News.

“And paving the way for other girl bands in the future, ‘cause it’s really hard for girl bands to thrive and flourish, so I hope we’ve paved the way a bit for that to happen.”

Despite split rumours circulating in recent times, the girls are going on tour across the UK next year and hinted that they will “still be going” over the next decade or two.

“I think we’ve achieved so much, and I think we will still be going in 10 years, 20 years. We’ll be wheeling it out every so often, another tour, I’m sure — no matter what,” Thirlwall concluded.

Between Us is out now and available on streaming platforms.
