A residents has slammed those who persistently dump litter in a popular recreation ground in Arnold. One woman says it happens "every day" and the problem has left it too dangerous for children and dogs to visit.
Littering has been plaguing the Church Lane and St Mary's Play Park and Recreation Ground "every single morning". Gedling Borough Council will therefore be sending out wardens to conduct patrols to deter those who are committing the offences.
Phillippa Marks, who walks her dog in the park, told Nottinghamshire Live: "Every morning I walk my dog on the field with a few other dog walkers and the litter is awful. As we walk round we are picking up bottles, cans and other rubbish and putting in the bins.

"It’s a hazard to any young children and dogs that come into the park. Last Saturday I spent 15 minutes picking up the litter in the gated children's playground area, the large plastic lottery sign was also dumped in the playground obviously taken from the local shop.
"Soon we won’t be able to enjoy the field and families won’t take their children to the playground, it’s too dangerous for them to play."
Pictures show bottles, cans and plastic cups strewn across the field of the recreation ground. Some of the distinctive rubbish includes cans of Monster energy drinks.
According to residents the issues stem from groups of teenagers and young people who gather on the park in the evenings. Responding Redhill's Labour councillor and deputy leader of Gedling Borough Council, Michael Payne, added: "It’s such a disgrace Phillippa and absolutely no excuse for it, just ruining the recreation ground for everyone else.
"I’ll ask the council’s neighbourhood wardens to do some specific patrols, which will hopefully serve as a deterrent or possibly lead to those responsible being caught and fined. As you say there are plenty of bins in the area."
