A list of replacement for Eileen Dunne on RTE flagship Nine O'Clock news programme are being considered by bosses with a host of familiar names in the frame.
Eileen Dunne shocked viewers in recent weeks by announcing her retirement on air after a bulletin.
Current RTE reporter Sharon Tobin, a familiar face to RTE Six One news viewers, is the hot favourite to take over Eileen's seat in studio. She had regularly filled in for Cáitriona Perry and David McCullagh before, RSVP reports.

Tobin was also hit on the Monday Night Live series on RTÉ television this autumn. Other names in the mix to join the presenting team alongside Sharon Ní Bheoláin include Carla O'Brien and Tommy Meskill.
Ray Kennedy, who hosts the weekend news bulletins, could also be making a return to the weekday news.
Betting is heating up on Eileen's replacement on RTE News after the veteran presenter called time on her incredible long-standing career earlier this month.
Leading bookmaker Ladbrokes has reported a spread of money on potential candidates, but Sharon Tobin is proving most popular.
A fellow RTE presenter for the ‘Six One’ news, Tobin the current favourite at 3/1 to replace Dunne.
Ray Kennedy is second favourite at 4/1 to take over the prime-time slot, while Kate Egan, current presenter for the weekend news bulletins on RTE, rounds off the top three at odds of 5/1.
Tommy Meskill, a familiar face on the RTE political beat is also in the mix at 7/1, while Carla O’Brien, current relief presenter for the station’s news programming, can also be backed at 7/1.
Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes told us: "Since Eileen Dunne signed off on the Nine O’Clock news in recent weeks, punters have been busy guessing who her replacement will be.
"There is a high calibre of names in the mix but it’s Sharon Tobin who is attracting most attention."
3/1 Sharon Tobin, 4/1 Ray Kennedy, 5/1 Kate Egan, 7/1 Tommy Meskill, 7/2 Carla O’Brien.
