While the 'will it - won't it' saga of HS2 has been grabbing all the headlines, there are rail network schemes across the UK that are being built and set to boost regional economies.
But for every new station that gets built or upgraded, there are hundreds of others that remain on the wish-list.
With this year's Levelling-Up white paper on setting out greater devolution powers to regions, it is hoped that there will be more autonomy in spending and investment on infrastructure, including rail networks.
