Members of a Northern Ireland council have avoided being labelled the ‘Grinch’ this Christmas as plans to light up its civic centre were given the green, white and red light.
Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council (LCCC) agreed in principle at last week’s corporate committee, to allow Lagan Valley Island (LVI) to be lit up for the festive occasion, should a request come before the chamber.
However, there was some opposition “for setting a precedent” on colours used and a query on whether Santa Claus would be available to throw the switch at a cost of almost £160 for the night.
