Celtic’s legendary Lisbon Lions are set to be honoured in the Portuguese capital as part of celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the club’s greatest-ever triumph.
Lisbon’s city authorities will unveil a special exhibition at the Estádio Nacional in Jamor, commemorating Celtic’s historic European Cup victory on May 25, 1967.
Titled 'From Glasgow to Glory – Celtic's 1967 European Triumph in Jamor, Lisbon', the exhibition has been developed by the Portuguese Institute for Sport and Youth through the National Sports Museum, in collaboration with Celtic Football Club.
Located within the stadium’s iconic access tunnel, the installation will officially open today [June 26], with Lisbon Lion Jim Craig in attendance for the ceremony.
The exhibition offers visitors a chance to relive one of European football’s defining moments through a collection of photographs, historical material, and commemorative items, charting Celtic’s journey to glory in Lisbon.
It also highlights the enduring bond between the club and the Jamor stadium, which continues to attract Celtic supporters from across the globe.

For many, the venue has become a place of pilgrimage, symbolising the club’s most famous achievement.
Portugal’s Secretary of State for Youth and Sport will attend the event, alongside Celtic’s interim chairman Brian Wilson, underlining the significance of the occasion. Speaking ahead of the unveiling, Jim Craig said: “It is fantastic for the club and the Lions to be honoured in this way.
“We will always enjoy such a strong connection with the city and the people of the city and for such recognition to be given to us really is very humbling. I remember being in that tunnel all those years ago – the anticipation, the trepidation, and above all, the feeling of pride.
“It will be amazing to be back in that tunnel as we attend this wonderful event. It is hard to believe that our famous victory took place almost 60 years ago, but initiatives like this really do keep this alive and bring even more colour again to that great day so many years on.
“On behalf of the Lions and all our families, I sincerely thank everyone who has put so much effort into this great project.”
The exhibition will run for a full year and will be open to visitors from Monday to Friday, offering supporters the opportunity to connect with a moment that remains etched in football history.
