Lisandro Martinez's first words as Manchester United player after transfer confirmed

Lisandro Martinez can't wait to get started at Manchester United after his transfer from Ajax was officially completed on Wednesday. United agreed a fee of £46.8million, rising to £55.3m, for Martinez on a five-year contract, plus an extra optional year.

The 24-year-old was spotted arriving at Carrington on Tuesday along with Christian Eriksen and the pair could make their first appearances for the club against Atletico Madrid or Rayo Vallecano this weekend.

Erik ten Hag's side reached an agreement to sign the Argentine defender two weeks ago, though the deal was still subject to a medical before it could be formally announced.

Ajax manager softens stance on Antony sale amid Manchester United interest

Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder has admitted Manchester United target Antony could leave the club this summer.

Erik ten Hag signed Antony while in charge of Ajax and the 52-year-old is keen to bring him to Old Trafford. Ten Hag has signed Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez this summer and all three signings have previous links with the Eredivisie.

United also remain persistent in talks to sign Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong, who played under Ten Hag at Ajax. The new Premier League season is under two weeks away and United are yet to strengthen their attacking options in the transfer market.
