Lisa Snowdon in tears as she's crowned Celebrity MasterChef 2022 winner

Lisa Snowdon is the new Celebrity MasterChef champion, after wowing judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace with her “daring” menu.

The radio presenter, 50, said she was “blown away” by her triumph over pop stars Mel Blatt and Danny Jones in the final.

Lifting the trophy, Lisa said: “It’s such a life-changing experience. I feel like this isn’t real! I just can’t believe it. I couldn’t have wanted to win something that meant more to me than this. I am on cloud nine. I love it.”

Her winning three-course menu was a starter of poached rhubarb and pan fried mackerel with a fennel slaw; a main course of pan fried duck breast with mushrooms and, for dessert, a chocolate tart with crème fraiche and sour cherries.

She chose a duck dish after struggling with it earlier in the competition.

John said: “Lisa, throughout this competition, has taken the everyday and elevated it into something special. This final she dared to do something that was going to be a gamble, and the gamble paid off. Her food is fantastic.”

Gregg also praised her for taking risks, saying: “Faint heart never lifts a MasterChef title and that is why Lisa is our Celebrity MasterChef champion.”

The final followed the celebrities as they travelled to Alexandra Palace in North London, where they were tasked with creating afternoon tea for 12 iconic BBC stars.

Back in the MasterChef kitchen, they next had to create one exceptional dish inspired by their childhood.

Finally, they faced the formidable Chef’s Table, hosted by legendary Italian chef Giorgio Locatelli at his Mayfair restaurant Locanda Locatelli.

Lisa follows in the footsteps of previous celebs who include last year’s winner Kadeena Cox, Greg Rutherford, Sophie Thompson, Ade Edmondson and Nadia Sawalha.
