Over the years, Lisa Marie has suffered several health scares. She once stated she is "grateful" to be alive following her previous addiction to opioids.
The mum-of-four explained her drug abuse in her memoir, saying it started shortly after the birth of her twin daughters, Harper and Finley, in 2008.
Her addiction came despite losing her father after he developed a "dangerous dependence on prescription drugs", and her ex-husband Michael Jackson after he too had a complication with drug use.
"You may read this and wonder how, after losing people close to me, I also fell prey to opioids," she said.

In Austin's touching Best Actor speech, he said he would love the mother-daughter duo "forever".
Priscilla and her daughter had grown close to the 31-year-old actor as he made the hit film Elvis. They would often share stories about the superstar singer and opened up to Austin about what Elvis had been like.
"I also want to thank our incredible producers and Warner Bros and the Presley family, thank you guys, thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me.
"Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever," Austin said.
Lisa Marie's four children include actress Riley Keough and Benjamin with ex-husband Danny Keough, as well as twin daughters Harper and Finley, whom she shares with ex Michael Lockwood.

Lisa Marie owned and operated the lucrative Elvis Presley Enterprises until 2005 when she sold off all of the business.
She is still the owner of Graceland, the King’s famed estate.

"You may read this and wonder how, after losing people close to me, I also fell prey to opioids," the star wrote in the foreword for Harry Nelson's book The United States of Opioids: A Prescription for Liberating a Nation in Pain.
"I was recovering after the [2008] birth of my daughters, Vivienne and Finley, when a doctor prescribed me opioids for pain," she added. "It only took a short-term prescription of opioids in the hospital for me to feel the need to keep taking them" due to their dangerous addictive properties."
Lisa Marie went on to credit her children for helping her battle her health issues.
She wrote: "[I'm] grateful to be alive today… and to have four beautiful children who have given me a sense of purpose that has carried me through dark times."
