Of the many uninspiring performances in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season, the Carolina Panthers’ horrific display against the New Orleans Saints takes the cake. In a 47-10 beatdown on the road, the Panthers weren’t in the game from the jump. I mean that literally — Bryce Young threw a pick on Carolina’s first offensive play of the afternoon.
But the Panthers’ defense somehow looked even worse. Derek Carr and the Saints largely had their way with their division rival, with Carolina providing little to no resistance.
That’s what made Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn appearing to trash-talk Carr while down 27 points late in the game so curious. Why on Earth would he feel compelled to come at a quarterback who just engineered a casual blowout of his team? How does that make sense, man?
Carr seemed to be thinking the same thing.
