Lip reader tells of Meghan's attempt to reassure Harry at 'frosty' Jubilee service

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were barely visible during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee as they kept a low profile.

They did attend the Queen's thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday and a lipreader has shared the very reassuring encouragement Meghan gave Harry during the service.

At one stage in the 50-minute ceremony, Meghan was seen telling him: "Yeah, will be fine", a lipreader told The Sun.

All eyes were on the couple at the service of thanksgiving in St Paul Cathedral on Friday.

But the reunion of Harry and the Duke of Cambridge proved elusive with the Sussexes sat in the second row, far across the aisle from the duke’s father, brother and sister in law Kate.

It was the first time that the couple were on full public view alongside the Cambridge's since they quit the monarchy for a new life in the US two years ago.

Their relegated seats were a telling sign of their change in status - as working royals filled the front-row chairs

Speaking to the Australian morning programme Sunrise, Mirror Royal Editor Russell Myers said: "It was very, very frosty inside the church.

"You could cut the atmosphere with a knife.

"The brothers didn't lock eyes or make eye contact at all. Harry was craning his neck to look at William and William didn't look back at him.

"I think there's still a lot of bad atmosphere going on and there needs to be a bit more water under the bridge until those brothers come back together."

But Harry, 37, and Meghan, 40, kept a low profile - although sweet pictures captured them joking with the younger royals in the Major General's Office at Trooping the Colour on Thursday.

They were not on the Buckingham Palace balcony as Jubilee celebrations kicked off, and did not go to a reception after the jubilee thanksgiving service at the Guildhall which was attended by most of the other royals.

Neither Lilibet, nor her older brother three-year-old Archie, were seen in public at any of the Jubilee celebrations.

The family celebrated their daughter's first birthday in the UK on Saturday - with the royal family wishing her a happy birthday.

Lilibet, born at 11.40am on Friday June 4 2021 at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California, was named in honour of the Queen.

The royal family Twitter account posted a balloon emoji and the message: “Wishing Lilibet a very Happy 1st Birthday!”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, also posted birthday messages on Twitter.

Elsewhere, Meghan’s hairdresser George Northwood posted pictures on Instagram of her and Harry.

He wrote: “So nostalgic and wonderful to be reunited Harry, Meghan and their family in the UK.

“Archie has grown to be the cutest, well-mannered little boy and Lilibet is just beautiful” (sic)
