David Blough is back in Detroit for 2022. The Lions have re-signed the reserve quarterback for another season, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. Blough was an unrestricted free agent.
Blough, 26, has been with the Lions for the last three seasons since Detroit traded for him just prior to the 2019 campaign. He played just four snaps in 2021 and was a fixture on the weekly inactive player list.
With Blough’s return, the Lions now bring back their entire quarterback room from 2021 intact. Jared Goff remains the starter, with Tim Boyle and Blough returning to compete for the No. 2 job.
It’s possible the Lions could still draft a quarterback. Blough’s salary is capable of being swallowed if the team chooses to select a developmental-type QB in the 2022 NFL draft.
