Lions officially sign QB Teddy Bridgewater in flurry of roster moves

The suspense over Teddy Bridgewater is now complete. The veteran QB has officially signed with the Detroit Lions.

Bridgewater’s signing was one of a few roster moves announced by the Lions on Thursday morning. Detroit also signed free agent RB Benny Snell, while also placing running back Justin Jackson on the reserve/retired list. The Lions also waived offensive lineman Logan Stenberg, a move that was previously reported.

Bridgewater will immediately step into the backup QB competition with Nate Sudfeld and Adrian Martinez. He is not expected to play against the New York Giants in the preseason opener on Friday night.

Jackson’s apparent retirement is a surprising development. He had just recently re-signed with the team and was working as the first-team kick returner, a role he also held in 2022.
