On the pitch, Messi will be confirmed as Inter Miami player "soon", according to MLS commissioner Don Garber. Messi will join The Herons, but hasn't been unveiled as of yet, due to his PSG contract running out on July 1.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Garber said: "We continue to work to finalize all aspects of our arrangement with and look forward to making some announcements really soon. He (Messi) is very supportive, passionate - it is going to be a great moment for soccer in north America."
Tata Martino, who Messi worked with at Barcelona and in the Argentina national set-up, was confirmed as the new Miami coach last week. Speaking in his first press conference, he said: "I spoke to Leo and yesterday spoke to Sergio. Sometimes people hear Miami they think holidays. But these two players are not coming here for a vacation, they are here to work and compete and win. That is in their blood."
