Lionel Messi, the legendary footballer, was recently honored by his MLS club, Inter Miami, in recognition of his historic achievement of becoming the most decorated player in history with a record 45 titles. This accolade followed Messi's triumph in the Copa América with Argentina.
During Inter Miami's league match against the Chicago Fire, club president Jorge Mas presented Messi with a special commemorative picture. The image featured a montage of all the silverware Messi has won throughout his illustrious career, symbolizing his remarkable 45 titles.
Speaking at the event, Mas expressed pride in Messi's milestone, stating, 'Tonight, we celebrate a great milestone for our captain Leo Messi in becoming the footballer who has lifted the most trophies in the history of the sport. And I am sure he won't stop at 45; we hope he can lift more in the future.'
The celebration included fireworks and a video showcasing Messi's significant achievements on the field. Despite wearing a protective boot due to a ligament injury sustained during the Copa América final, Messi graciously accepted the recognition from Inter Miami.
On social media, Messi expressed his gratitude, saying, 'Thank you very much for the recognition, @intermiamicf! It was a pleasure to be able to share this moment with our people on the field.'
Of Messi's 45 trophies, 35 were secured during his remarkable 17 seasons at Barcelona, which included four Champions League titles. Following his tenure at Barcelona, Messi added to his collection during his two seasons at Paris Saint-Germain before joining Inter Miami in the summer of 2023.
Notably, Messi played a pivotal role in helping Inter Miami secure its first trophy, the 2023 Leagues Cup, during his inaugural season at the club. As fans eagerly anticipate Messi's future contributions, his legacy as one of the greatest footballers of all time continues to grow.
