Linlithgow Rose could clinch the East of Scotland Premier Division title tonight as they take on Tynecastle at Prestonfield.
The Rose currently sit eight points clear with four games remaining so victory over the Edinburgh side, coupled with second-place Sauchie dropping points away to Penicuik Athletic, would seal the deal in front of their home fans.
Gordon Herd’s side have led the division almost from the first whistle and have suffered just two defeats in 26 games.
Winning the title would normally see the East of Scotland Premier Division champions enter a play-off with the winners of both the West of Scotland and South of Scotland leagues.
However, neither of the sides currently in pole position to do that - Beith Juniors in the West and Creetown in the South - hold an SFA licence and are therefore ineligible for promotion.
Should that remain the case, the Rose would be promoted to the Lowland League for the first time in the club’s history without the need for a play-off.
