Lindsay Lohan recently spoke during the Irish Wish New York Premiere at Paris Theater, where her latest movie showcased a promising debut on Netflix. The former teen actress, who has made a comeback with two romantic comedies on the streaming platform in the past year and a half, saw Irish Wish attract a larger audience compared to her previous film, Falling for Christmas.
Irish Wish, a magical St. Patrick’s Day-themed film, follows Lohan's character as she embarks on a journey of unexpected love after making a wish. According to Samba TV, a TV intelligence company, the movie drew in 1 million U.S. households during its live-plus-two-day release window, marking a 3% increase from Falling for Christmas.
The film resonated particularly well with older Millennials, who have fond memories of Lohan's earlier works and have followed her career over the years. Households with adults aged 35-44 showed a 6% overindexing in viewership for Irish Wish, indicating a strong interest from this demographic.
Despite the anticipation surrounding Lohan's return to the screen, Irish Wish did not achieve record-breaking numbers. For instance, Rebel Moon-Part One: A Child of Fire, a sci-fi movie starring Sofia Boutella and Charlie Hunnam, outperformed Lohan's film with 1.7 million households tuning in during its four-day release window.
Rebel Moon-Part One also garnered significant viewership from Black and Hispanic households, with an 8% and 12% overindexing, respectively. However, Lohan's presence on Netflix is set to continue, as she signed a two-movie deal with the platform, which includes her role in another upcoming Christmas romantic comedy.
For those interested in watching Irish Wish, the film is exclusively available on Netflix and runs for a duration of 93 minutes. While it may not have topped the charts, Lohan's latest project has shown promise and reaffirmed her status as a beloved figure in the entertainment industry.
