In a statement published on social media, Yellow Bird cafe owner Margaret-Ann said: "It's with a lump in my throat that I have to tell you all that the yellow bird was broken into during the night. Someone has entered my business and removed cash from the till, monies from the staff tip jar and charity money."

She continued: "After five years in business I feel physically sick that someone could do this to a local business who always attempts to give back to their community."

She added: "Any help in catching the person involved would be greatly appreciated."

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Police are appealing for information following a report of burglary at commercial premises in the Newtowne Square area of Limavady.

"It was reported that an amount of cash was taken from the cash register sometime from Saturday evening, 1st April at 6.30pm and Sunday, April 2 at 9.15am.
