There are two things we've learned from this round of Marie Claire's game, "How Well Do You Know Your Co-Star?": 1) Lily Collins and Ashley Park are terrible at trivia, and 2) they are true meilleures amies (that's "best friends" for all you non-francophiles).
Over the past four years, the two actresses have been inseparable both on- and off-screen. Since she moved to Paris, Collins' Emily has navigated constant success in her marketing career (and near-constant chaos in her dating life) with her best friend Mindy (Ashley Park) by her side. By the end of season 3, Emily has finally chosen Sylvie's new firm Agence Grateau over Savoir, but her romantic life's up in flames after Alfie learned that she was in love with Gabriel, and Gabriel learned that Camille is pregnant with his child.
Meanwhile, former heiress-turned-nanny Mindy started to pursue her singing career full-time, joining a band and starting a romance with guitarist Benoît. Mindy eventually lands a solo residency at a jazz club (leading to many musical numbers), but her personal life is rocked by a love triangle between herself, Benoît, and her old Swiss-boarding-school classmate Nicolas de Léon (played by Park's real-life boyfriend Paul Forman). Mindy seems to chose Nicolas, until Benoît unexpectedly shows up at her door with big news: The band is going to Eurovision.
Collins and Park's IRL friendship is just as strong. The pair are mainstays on each other's Instagrams, whether they're filming the series in France or supporting each other from afar with loving captions and comments. In an interview ahead of season 4, Park described their bond as something near-fated. "I was discussing with Lily the other day what an adult friendship is. And first of all, we are so fucking lucky, me and Lily. We both came into each other’s lives at a time when we needed that exact kind of friendship. ... We came to each other at the exact right moment."
Ahead of Emily in Paris's fourth season, we're looking back at the actresses' friendship test, where tried their hand at guessing each other's childhood pets and astrological signs and first jobs ... and failed miserably. But they proved that their bond goes much deeper than just co-star trivia, explaining how they instantly connected on the set of their Netflix show and have been there for each other through the good and the bad times.
"What I love about [Mindy and Emily] so much," Park said, referring to their on-screen counterparts, "[is] there's just never any judgement ... I never have to do anything to feel or understood by Lily which is very, very rare."
Try not to dissolve into giggles (and then tears) along with Collins and Park while watching the video, above. Then catch season 4, part 1 of Emily in Paris, streaming on Netflix now.
